Cody Simpson and Emma McKeon: A Sweet Olympic Love Story

It was love at first sight for Australian pop singer Cody Simpson and 14-time Olympic medallist Emma McKeon.

We all know the classic Pretty Brown Eyes sung by Cody in 2013, but what took fans by surprise was when the 28-year-old dived into the world of competitive swimming, qualifying for the Commonwealth Games in 2022.

On the other hand, Emma McKeon has been a fixture in the swimming world, competing since the age of 12 and now, at 30 years old, has collected 14 Olympic medals.

How did Cody Simpson and Emma McKeon meet?

In early May 2022, as Cody dived into the competitive swimming world, he was training for the Commonwealth Games, where he first crossed paths with Emma.

Keeping their relationship on the down low, the pair didn’t become ‘Instagram Official’ until July 2022, when Cody posted photos from their trip to Spain.

“A brief rendezvous in Barcelona with my love. @emmamckeon,” he wrote.

Two months later, Cody’s mum, Angie Simpson, spoke to Now To Love about the pair and their new romance.

“I adore them as a couple, and they’re lovely friends to boot. Being on the Australian team together makes my heart sing—she’s there for Cody for all the right reasons,” she said.

“She’s a few years older—her maturity and cool head are the sort of qualities Cody adores in a woman. They’re two beautiful souls fit together so well. With those gorgeous smiles, they’re like a couple of Cheshire cats—as a mum, that makes me so happy.”

Are Emma McKeon and Cody Simpson together?

Yes! The pair are very much still together, sharing cute snaps on holidays together and attending different events.

When they first started dating, they described their relationship as a “slow burn” in an interview with 7News , and now they have recently celebrated three years together.

In 2023, they purchased a home together on the Gold Coast, valued at $1.8 million in 2023.

The coastal home features five bedrooms, a large entertainment area, and, naturally, a swimming pool.

What happened between Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson?

Before meeting Emma, in October 2019, Cody was in a relationship with Miley Cyrus .

The pair broke up in August 2020, with Cody sharing in a 2022 interview on The Kyle and Jackie O Show that, “It was kind of a mutual decision between us, knowing that we were sort of going in different directions in our life.”

“I had just started training at the point, so my life was changing a lot and eventually I knew that I had to move back to Australia to do it properly. She was just going with her le new album and going on tour and stuff, so it was a kind of fork in the road kind of scenario, really.”

At the time of their split, Cody was moving back to Australia to pursue swimming and Miley was preparing to release her album Plastic Hearts .
